A memoir of small town life in the 40s and 50s and the fatherless boy who lived it
Back in 2004 my wife, Shirlee, suggested that I put in writing the memories of my early life and the impact my Granddad had on it. I have been telling these stories to three daughters for the past 40 years and to their children, but never took time to put them in writing. With the much-needed encouragement and editing from Shirlee, Granddad and the Kidis the result.
Granddad and the Kid is now available as a Kindle Book from Amazon.com. If you do not have a Kindle you can download “Kindle for PC” or Kindle for Mac”, a free Kindle reader program while you are there.
My writing experiences have taken me from the high school paper where I learned to write a weekly column and feature stories about some of the students, to owning a weekly newspaper and real estate magazine. Along the way I was editor of three weekly publications in Florida. What I most enjoyed writing were the feature stories about ordinary people and what makes them special. I believe this is the flavor I have given Granddad and the Kid.
In addition to writing, my other passion is photography. I spend some time almost every morning and evening photographing the woods as the dogs and I explore. Each day is a new adventure, a new sight, sound or smell.
